The Crimson scored a pair of early goals to take a lead they would not relinquish. Junior Ailsa Connolly scored her team-leading ninth goal of the season for the Terriers, who move to 6-11 on the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU earned the only two corners of the opening half but the home team was efficient in the early stages, scoring on the first two shots of the game.
- Mimi Tarrant fired a low reverse-stick shot from the left side to the boards at 2:28 after receiving a pass from Bente van Vlijmen.
- Moments later, Tarrant corralled a deflected pass before creating space in the middle of the circle and firing a shot to the top left corner of the goal.
- Neither team scored for the next 40 minutes of play before Harvard extended its lead when a shot by Rachel Greenwood went off a BU stick and in with 1:41 left in the third quarter.
- Connolly turned in an impressive individual effort to get BU on the board early in the final quarter.
- The junior penetrated the circle from the far right side before dribbling through the defense, faking her shot as she entered the middle of the arc and then drilling a shot off the left post and in at the 47:13 mark.
- The Crimson created the 4-1 final with 1:13 to play when Kolbe Keating redirected a pass from Siofra Murdoch past BU netminder Livy Golini.
- The Crimson did not earn a corner until the third quarter, ending an impressive stretch of 117:10 between corners allowed by the Terriers, dating back to the third quarter of Saturday's contest at Holy Cross.
- Connolly now has 29 career goals, moving her into a tie for ninth all-time at BU with Pam Spuehler '08.
- Golini made seven saves, one off her season high.
- Ellie Shahbo recorded three saves for the Crimson to earn the win in goal.
- The two teams collected donations from family and friends to benefit the Travis Roy Foundation.
- The Terriers will close their regular season on Saturday (Nov. 2) with a visit to Pennsylvania to take on Lehigh.
- BU must win its game with the Mountain Hawks to qualify for the Patriot League tournament.
- Game time at Ulrich Field is set for 11 a.m.
