Jacobs-Townsley Sweeps Patriot League Weekly Awards

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Freshman Sophia Jacobs-Townsley of the Boston University women's cross country team was selected as both the Patriot League Runner of the Week and Patriot League Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
Jacobs-Townsley was the top Patriot League finisher at the Paul Short Run on Saturday, finishing 47th with a personal-best 6K time of 20:52.7. Her performance helped the Terriers place 17th out of 43 teams, finishing in front of Army West Point, Lehigh, Navy and Holy Cross in the Women's College Gold race.
This is the second time Jacobs-Townsley has been selected as PL Rookie of the Week and the first time she has won Runner of the Week honors. Jacobs-Townsley is in the midst of a successful debut campaign with the Terriers. She has posted a top-50 finish in all three races this season, including a fifth-place performance at the Harry Lang Invitational on Sept.7.
BU will return to competition on Oct. 19 at the Princeton Invitational, its final meet before the Patriot League Championship on Nov. 2.
