Boston College Outmatches Terriers, 88-57

BOSTON – Welcoming Boston College for the 26th edition of the Battle of Comm Ave, the Boston University women's basketball team could not slow down the Eagles, falling 88-57 Sunday afternoon at Case Gym.

How It Happened
  • Nia Irving slipped in a feed from Riley Childs to open the game, but the Eagles ripped off a 7-0 run to force the Terriers to burn a timeout just over a minute into play.
  • Maggie Pina connected from 3-point range to get the Terriers back on the scoreboard, though the Eagles caught fire from beyond-the-arc, connecting on their next three 3-point attempts as part of a 13-0 run.
  • Tenisha Pressley and Katie Nelson combined for the final five points of the opening frame, reducing the deficit to 24-13.
  • The Terriers started to pick up the pace in the second quarter, as a Mackenzie Miers layup capped a 6-2 run, making it a 31-19 game with 6:14 left before the break.
  • The duo of Pressley and Nelson combined for the final points of the quarter once again, polishing off a 11-5 streak to make it a 40-30 game.
  • Childs hit from 3-point range to put BU within single digits early in the third, but BC pushed out a 14-0 run to further its lead to 56-33 with 2:56 left in the frame.
  • Nelson started the final stanza off with five straight points, but the Eagles went 7-of-8 from the floor to start the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.
Game Notes
  • Nelson led the Terriers in scoring for the first time this season with a 16-point effort, and additionally led the team with four assists.
  • Ten different Terriers got on the scoreboard while all 12 active players saw the floor.
  • Pressley set a season high with five points and set a new career-high with seven rebounds, tying Childs for the team lead.
  • Maren Durant led all players with two blocks.
