BU Claims Challenging Doubles Point, Rolls in Singles to 5-2 Win over Fairfield

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After capturing a difficult doubles point, the Boston Univesity men's tennis team earned three of its four singles points in straight sets to post a 5-2 victory over Fairfield at Yale's Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.
By snapping a four-match losing streak and winning their fourth straight against the Stags (2-4), the Terriers improve to 3-6.

- All three doubles matches featured an identical 6-4 score with BU triumphing at lines 2 and 3.
- Junior J.P. Avila and freshman Max Hartenstein edged their opponents in the No. 2 slot, while freshman Max Stehling and sophomore Pete Siozios triumphed in the other match.
- Sophomore Owen Lu led BU in singles with a 6-3, 7-5 victory at line 1.
- Avila dropped the fewest games at six with a 7-6(4), 6-0 victory in the No. 5 slot, while junior March Sable dropped just one more in his 7-5, 6-2 win at line 6.
- Stehling battled Jeffrey Rodgers to the end and came out ahead at No. 3 singles by winning two tiebreakers for the 6-7(4), 7-6(4), 10-7 victory.
- Fairfield posted straight-set wins in the No. 2 and 4 slots to get on the scoreboard.
- The Terriers will visit the Big Green on Saturday (Feb. 23) with doubles set to begin at 5 p.m.
- Ranked as high as 14th last season, Dartmouth earned a 6-1 win last year with Siozios capturing BU's lone point in singles.
