
Terriers Ready to Tee Off at NCAA Regional

CLE ELUM, Wash. - The Boston University golf team will compete in the Cle Elum Region of the 2019 NCAA Women's Golf Regional Championships, which begins on Monday morning at Tumble Creek Club.
The Terriers played a practice round on Sunday and will begin the 54-hole tournament at 10:20 a.m. local time on Monday. BU will also play 18 holes on Tuesday and Wednesday. The three lowest-scoring individuals and six lowest-scoring teams will advance to the finals, which will take place at The Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas, May 17-22.
BU earned an automatic berth to the 18-team regional thanks to its second Patriot League championship. The Terriers won the conference tournament by four strokes and are the No. 17 team in their regional.
Freshman Hanako Kawasaki is the reinging Patriot League individual champion and has enjoyed a fantastic rookie season with the Terriers. She won three of her nine starts and posted seven top-20 finishes, including five top-10s. Kawasaki enters the regional having won two straight tournaments. In addition to her Patriot League victory, Kawasaki also claimed the Navy Invitational in impressive fashion, winning by seven shots with a seven-under 137 (69-68). Seven of her 25 rounds this season have been at par or better.
Junior Zhangcheng Guo was a Second Team All-Patriot League selection after she tied for ninth at the conference tournament. Her best round of that weekend came on the final day when set a new conference championship record with a two-under 70. Guo has averaged a 76.82 this season, which is second best on the Terriers. She has five top-20 finishes, including four top-10s, and has been at par or better on three different occasions.
Sophomore Katerina Doleckova is playing some of the best golf of her career entering NCAAs. She earned First Team All-Patriot League honors after finishing fourth with a score of 227 (76-77-74). That total matched her collegiate low. She is averaging a 79.36 and has posted three top-20 performances this year, all of which have come during the spring.
Junior Abby Parsons secured Second Team All-Patriot League accolades thanks to a score of 230 (76-75-79), her best 54-hole total of the spring. Her best 54-hole tournament of the year came in the fall at the Yale Intercollegiate when she fired a 222 (70-76-76), which is her collegiate low. Parsons is averaging a score of 79.29 and has twice carded a 70 this year, which is her collegiate low 18-hole score.
Senior Megan Carter will look to extend her collegiate career with a strong performance at Cle Elum. She put together a clutch final round at the Patriot League Championship, firing a 76 to help the Terriers clinch the title. Carter owns four top-20 finishes this year, including a T7 at the Boston College Intercollegiate in September. Her best 54-hole tournament came at the Kiawah Island Classic during which she carded a career-low 221 (73-74-74). Carter has averaged a 78.71 this year.
