Terriers Race at Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown
September 20, 2019 | Women's Cross Country
BOSTON – The Boston University women's cross country team competed at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown on Friday afternoon at Franklin Park.
BU placed three harriers in the top 100 en route to a 16th-place finish as a team with 441 points.
Freshman Sophia Jacobs-Townsley paced BU with a time of 18:18 in the 5K race, good for 41st. Junior Corinne Batsu finished 69th with a time of 18:43, followed by senior Abigail Gugel (18:57) in 86th. Junior Laura Parkinson (19:35) and sophomore Angela Castronuovo (19:42) were 142nd and 147th, respectively, to round out the Terrier scorers.
"This wasn't our best race as a team," head coach Paul Spangler said. "We've got to regroup; the potential is there. I thought Sophia and Corinne did a good job today and they should be commended for stepping up when a couple runners went down."
Senior Coco Ocker and sophomore Jessica Kellar both crossed the finish line in 19:48. Junior Stephanie Forbes (20:11) and sophomore Meghan Convery (20:30) also competed for BU.
The Terriers will return to competition on Saturday, Oct. 5, when they travel to Lehigh for the Paul Short Run.
