Rust to be Inducted into Beanpot Hall of Fame

January 27, 2020

BOSTON - Reagan Rust, who captained the Boston University women's ice hockey team to its first Beanpot title as a varsity program last year, will be inducted into the Women's Beanpot Hall of Fame this year, Hockey East announced on Monday.

Rust played an integral role in the Terriers' first Beanpot championship since 1981. In the opening round against Northeastern, she scored the deciding goal in a shootout with Northeastern to send the Terriers to the title game. Rust then scored the opening goal against Harvard en route to a 3-2 overtime victory. All three of Rust's Beanpot points came in title tilts, as she tallied a goal and an assist in the 2018 championship contest. Rust, a 2019 graduate, played in two Beanpots with the Terriers.

In addition to her success in the Beanpot, Rust enjoyed a terrific collegiate career. She scored 17 goals and added 46 assists in four seasons, including 31 points (9g, 22a) at BU. As a senior captain, she was a 2019 Hockey East Honorable Mention All-Star and also won the John B. Simpson Award, which is given to a Terrier senior who demonstrates enthusiasm and leadership.

Rust will be recognized in an on-ice ceremony between games during the first Tuesday of this year's Women's Beanpot, which will take place at Walter Brown Arena on Feb. 4. The Terriers will host Boston College in the second game that Tuesday at 8 p.m.
