BC added an empty-net tally and the Terriers fell to an even 12-12-8 on the year and 9-8-5 in Hockey East play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- BC quickly took an early 1-0 lead off a defensive miscue with freshman Alex Newhook scoring off an assist from classmate Matt Boldy exactly seven minutes into the game.
- The visitors doubled their lead at the 7:48 mark of the second when a shot by Connor Moore from above the right circle went off BU netminder Sam Tucker and in.
- BU held a 21-14 shot advantage through two periods but found itself down a pair of goals.
- The deficit grew to 3-0 when David Cotton scored at the 4:40 mark of the third.
- On the latter of two BU power-play chances, a center-point effort by junior David Farrance was tipped in by Curry from the slot to make it a 3-1 contest with 11:08 to play.
- BU threatened to get closer but BC netminder Spencer Knight and the Eagles' defense closed it out and Graham McPhee added an empty-netter in the final seconds.
- BU held a 31-29 advantage in shots.
- Tucker made 25 saves for the Terriers while Knight turned in a 30-save performance.
- Farrance's assist allowed him to become the first BU defenseman in 22 years to tally 40 points in a season as Tom Poti recorded 42 in 1997-98, marking the most of any Terrier blueliner in the Hockey East era.
- Freshman Trevor Zegras also picked up an assist on Curry's goal.
- BU's lone penalty came with two seconds left in regulation and it came in a matching situation.
- The Terriers' power play scored on one of two chances.
- The Terriers will close out the regular season with a home-and-home series against Northeastern beginning Friday (March 6) at Matthews Arena.
- The game, which will be televised on NESN, starts at 7 p.m.
