Coffee with Coaches: Gabe Sanders

Boston University director of track & field and cross country Gabe Sanders was the guest in the latest edition of Coffee with Coaches.
Sanders, who coached 16 All-Americans and 17 NCAA finalists as an assistant at Stanford for four years, returned to BU in August of 2019. During the 2019-20 indoor season, he coached the men's and women's teams to a combined five individual gold medals and 10 overall medals at the Patriot League Indoor Championships. A champion in both the mile run and 3000m run, sophomore Andrea Claeson was named PL Female Athlete of the Meet, while freshman Sophia Jacobs-Townsley was named PL Rookie of the Meet after capturing gold in the 5000m along with silver in the 3000m.
Sanders previously served as an assistant coach at BU from 2008 to 2015, where he was the program's recruiting coordinator and responsible for coaching student-athletes in sprints, hurdles and relay events. While at BU, the Terriers broke 15 school records under his watch with sprinters and hurdlers combining for 16 PL titles and 28 America East crowns. He also coached student-athletes to 10 conference meet records in both the AE and the PL.
