BU Hits Road to Face Maine Friday Night

The Boston University women's ice hockey team will continue its 2021-22 season on Friday night when the Terriers travel to Maine to face the Black Bears. Puck drop is set for 6 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS

  • BU split last weekend's series with Holy Cross, with each team winning at home.
  • The Terriers bounced back from a 2-0 road loss on Nov. 11 with a 3-1 home win the next night.
  • Senior Mackenna Parker scored twice while sophomore Catherine Foulem provided the game-winner.
  • Sophomore Callie Shanahan made 23 saves to earn the win.
  • Both Shanahan and senior Kate Stuart have been terrific this season.
  • Stuart has started nine games and sports a .938 save percentage and a 1.75 goals-against average while Shanahan owns a 1.58 goals-against average and a .934 save percentage.
  • Senior Courtney Correia leads the Terrier offense in goals (7) and points while junior Julia Nearis is second in points (12) thanks to a team-high eight assists, including the primary helper on Foulem's winner against Holy Cross.

SCOUTING THE BLACK BEARS

  • Maine entered last weekend having lost five of its last six games, but the Black Bears traveled to UConn and left with a 1-0 win on Nov. 12 and a 4-4 tie and shootout win the next day.
  • Senior Ally Johnson leads the Black Bears with six goals while junior Ida Kuoppala is first on the squad with seven assists.
  • Both Johnson and Kuoppala have notched a team-best nine points.
  • Senior goaltender Loryn Porter has appeared in 11 games, posting a 2-6-1 record with a .917 save percentage and a 2.71 goals-against average.
  • She made 47 saves against UConn on Nov. 13.
  • Porter allowed just one goal during last year's series against the Terriers.

HISTORY WITH THE BLACK BEARS

  • BU is 31-18-3 all-time against Maine, including a 15-9-0 mark at Alfond Arena.
  • The Terriers haven't visited Maine since Oct. 20, 2019, when they earned a 3-1 victory.
  • The teams split a weekend series last season at Walter Brown Arena, with BU earning a 1-0 victory on Jan. 23 before Maine shut out the Terriers, 2-0, the next day.
