The Terriers' penalty kill continued its strong start to the season, holding Vermont scoreless on its two power plays. BU has killed off each of the last 20 power plays it has faced.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Catamounts opened the scoring just 1:51 into the contest when a Tynka Pátková shot snuck past senior Corinne Schroeder, hit off the right post and found its way over the goal line.
- Schroeder kept the game close entering the final period, making 17 of her 25 saves over the first 40 minutes.
- Maddy Skelton and Val Caldwell scored within a span of 1:58 to give UVM a 3-0 lead at the 4:44 mark of the third period.
- The Terriers landed 10 shots on goal in the final frame, but Jesse McPherson (22 saves) made all the necessary stops. BU had a golden chance shorthanded with less than nine minutes to play when senior Jesse Compher found junior Mackenna Parker with a great pass, but McPherson somehow stopped Parker's point-blank bid.
- BU pulled Schroeder in favor of an extra attacker with just over two minutes in regulation, but Vermont was able to tally an empty-netter to seal its victory.
- BU now boasts the best penalty kill in the country, having killed 26 of 27 power plays it has faced this season.
- Four different skaters paced the Terriers with three shots on goal apiece.
- A Terrier goaltender has not allowed more than three goals at home since Oct. 5, 2018.
- BU and Vermont will conclude this weekend's two-game series on Saturday at Walter Brown Arena.
- Puck drop is scheduled for 5 p.m.
