The Boston University golf team will continue its spring season on Thursday when it welcomes Holy Cross to Thorny Lea in Brockton, Massachusetts, for a medal play event. The first tee shot will be hit at approximately 1 p.m.
BU has won two of the three tournaments it has played this year and owns three top-three finishes as a team. The Terriers triumphed at the season-opening FDU Invitational (April 2-3) before winning the Hartford/Tumble Brook Invitational (April 9) the following weekend.
Sophomore Alice Fan has been steady through her first three events, posting the team's lowest scoring average (75.80) and a team-best two top-five finishes. Junior Hanako Kawasaki, the reigning Patriot League Golfer of the Week, has averaged a 76 in her three tournaments, which includes a victory at the Hartford Invitational thanks to a one-under 71. All six Terriers have recorded at least two top-20 finishes this season, with Fan, Kawasaki and freshman Flair Kuan each owning two top-10 performances. Five of the Terriers' six golfers have a scoring average of 76.6 or lower.
Holy Cross also competed at the Hartford Invitational, finishing eighth with a score of 364. Freshman Liz Garfield led the Crusaders at that event, finishing tied for 24th with a score of 82.
