Men's Basketball to Host Lehigh Saturday Afternoon at The Roof

BOSTON – Looking to carry momentum from a 67-50 win at Loyola Maryland, the Boston University men's basketball team will host Lehigh on Saturday at Case Gym with tip-off slated for 1 p.m.
With the help of a 42-25 advantage in rebounding, the Terriers snapped the Greyhounds' five-game win streak, while the Mountain Hawks claimed a 69-61 win at Navy to move into a four-way tie in the Patriot League standings at 5-2 with the Midshipmen, Loyola and Army West Point.

- Graduate student Sukhmail Mathon (14.5 ppg, 10.1 rpg) earned his ninth double-double of the season at Loyola and is now averaging 17.3 ppg and 11.3 rpg through seven conference games.
- Classmate Javante McCoy remains the team leader in scoring at 16.7 ppg for the season and is just 46 points away from becoming the fifth Terrier to reach 1,700 total. He's also averaging a team-high 3.0 apg after dishing out a season-tying seven assists against the Greyhounds.
- BU's bench outscored Loyola's bench, 26-5, as sophomore Caelan Jones (4.0 ppg) became the 10th Terrier to score 10+ points this season with the help of five 3-pointers after junior Ethan Brittain-Watts (4.5 ppg) scored 11 against Navy this past Saturday.
- The Terriers rank 75th nationally in scoring defense (64.6 ppg) after they held their sixth opponent below 60 points this season. They also rank 71st in rebound margin (4.8 rpg) and 55th in free throw percentage (74.9).
- Overall, BU is averaging 68.3 ppg and 43.6 FG% while holding teams to 43.8 FG%.
- Lehigh is 6-2 over its last eight games after starting the season at 1-10 with a 79-72 home win vs. Columbia and 73-70 OT loss at Rutgers.
- The Mountain Hawks are 3-7 on the road with a 3-1 mark against PL competition, collecting wins against Navy, Bucknell (97-64) and American (63-61) with the lone loss occurring at Army (77-55).
- Evan Taylor leads Lehigh at 14.2 ppg and 6.1 rpg with Jeameril Wilson averaging 11.1 ppg and preseason All-PL Marques Wilson next at 8.8 ppg.
- Taylor's scoring average has jumped up to 17.3 ppg in conference play, and Keith Higgins Jr. (8.5 ppg) has stepped up at 15.4 ppg and 3.3 apg.
- Overall, Lehigh is averaging 66.5 ppg and 43.8 FG% while holding opponents to 71.1 ppg and 42.5 FG%. In conference play, the Mountain Hawks have increased the offensive averages to 71.9 ppg and 47.2 FG% with the help of eight 3-pointers per game.
- BU leads the series, 10-8, after posting a 69-58 home win in the 2021 Patriot League first round.
- Senior Walter Whyte led BU with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Mathon recorded 16 points and seven rebounds.
- Marques Wilson led Lehigh with 19 points, and Jeameril Wilson earned 17 points.
- BU will next visit Lafayette on Wednesday (Jan. 26) at 7 p.m.
- The Terriers won both games last season on the road, 81-76 and 64-61.
