January 28, 2022 | Women's Track & Field
BOSTON - Seniors Andrea Claeson and Meghan Convery both entered Boston University's all-time top 10 list in the women's mile to highlight the team's efforts on the opening day of the 2022 John Thomas Terrier Classic on Friday.
In a packed field, Claeson (4:40.23) and Convery (4:45.67) placed 11th and 14th, respectively. Claeson's time placed her third on BU's all-time list and it was the fastest by a Terrier in eight years. Convery snuck into the top-10 by .11 and was .02 shy of ninth.
Senior Lauren Sikoski became just the ninth Terrier to clear 3.45 meters (11'3.75") in the pole vault and another Terrier had a BU top-10 performance as freshman Emma Lawrence posted a leap of 5.79 meters (19') in the long jump, good for 10th in school annals. She finished third in the event while sophomore Jules Hogan was fifth at 5.4 meters (17' 8.75").
Freshman Asia Hamilton took second in the high jump at 1.7 meters (5'7") and classmate Lisa Weyhenmeyer placed third in the triple jump with a mark of 11.6 meters (38'.75").
In the throwing cage, senior Bridget Bishop (13.86m/45'5.75") and freshman Kiana Lino (13.81m/45'3.75") were third and fourth in the shot put and sophomore Emma Kowalski was eighth at 12.99 meters (42'7.5"), which moved her up two spots to eighth on the all-time school list.
Sophomore Daisy Liljegren made her indoor collegiate debut in the 5,000-meter run and turned in an impressive time of 16:50.22, which was good for sixth. Seniors Corinne Batsu (22nd, 9:38.18) and Veronica Kriss (25th, 9:40.66) gave the Terriers a pair of top-25 finishes in the 3,000-meter run.
The men's events in the John Thomas Terrier Classic were orginally scheduled for Saturday (Jan. 29) but have been moved to Sunday (Jan. 30) at 1 p.m. due to the impending snowstorm.
