
Liljegren Leads Terriers in Final Weekend of Regular Season

BOSTON – Boston University women's cross country raced in the Panorama Farms XC Invitational at Virginia and the Suffolk Invitational at Franklin Park on Saturday. The women placed 10-of-18 at Virginia and 2-of-22 at Suffolk.
Panorama Farms XC Invitational
The Terriers scored 286 points in the 5K and placed ahead of local rival and regionally-ranked Boston College. In a race with multiple power-five competitors, hosts Virginia won the event with 32 points.
Highlighting the performances for the Terriers in a field of 171 competitors was sophomore Daisy Liljegren who finished sixth with a time of 16:51.2. Next in for BU were grad students Veronica Kriss (17:39.0) in 35th and Meghan Convery (18:18.2) in 81st to round out the top three for the Terriers.
Finishing out the scoring for BU were senior Madeline Bachmann (18:22.1) in 86th, freshman Addison Schmidt (18:46.2) in 111th, freshman Olivia Dodds (18:55.9) in 125th and Angela Castronuovo (19:04.6) in 132nd.
Suffolk Invitational
BU finished second in the 6K race of 182 runners at the Suffolk Invitational with 56 points. Northeastern took the top spot in the event with 23 points in the race.
First to cross the finish line for the Terriers was freshman Madeleine Finton with a time of 23:35.8, good for third overall. Sophomore Sarah Hanifin (24:00.5) also posted a top-10 finish, coming in 10th.
Also scoring for BU and finishing in the top-30 were freshman Kate Edenson (24:14.4), senior Anna Kavanagh (24:15.8), junior Marcela Perches (24:21.9), sophomore Rachel McKinnon (24:50.2) and freshman Alex Vellekoop (25:16.3). Freshman Lily Borin (25:17.4) and junior Brynn Siles (25:48.5) also raced.
Up Next
The Terriers will enter the postseason later this month with the Patriot League Championship on Oct. 29. The championship will take place at Bucknell.
