Merrimack Edges Men's Tennis, 4-3

HAVERHILL, Mass. – Competing in its first dual match of the season, the Boston University men's tennis team was edged by Merrimack, 4-3, on Saturday evening at the Cedardale Health & Fitness Club.
The Warriors (1-0) captured the tightly-contested doubles point by winning all three matches, including a pair in tiebreakers, by a combined score of 21-17. Merrimack then won the top three singles matches to fend off the Terriers (0-1), who claimed the other three points in singles action.
Sophomore Jonah Dickson rebounded from his 7-5 loss at No. 2 doubles with a dominating 6-0, 6-2 singles victory at line 4. Freshman Adrian Pawlowski rolled to a 6-4, 6-4 win in the No. 6 slot, while sophomore Ben Letzer fended off his opponent, 6-1, 0-6, 6-1, at line 5.
Sophomore Johan Sajonz tried to send the No. 3 match to a third set, but Merrimack held on for the 6-2, 7-6 win.
The Terriers will remain at Cedardale and face Siena on Sunday (Feb. 6) with a 2 p.m. start.
