
Terriers Win Hoya Invitational to Close Regular Season; Chen Earns Medalist Honors

ROCKVILLE, Md. – The Boston University women's golf team finished off a triumphant regular-season finale on Sunday by claiming the title at the Hoya Invitational behind a medalist performance by freshman Christy Chen.
Trailing by eight strokes entering the day, the Terriers posted a 309 and leaped past leader Princeton in the process to finish with a 915, four strokes ahead of second-place Harvard.
Chen had the best finish of her young collegiate career, posting a +8 (77-72-75--224) to tie with Princeton's Kyung Eun Lee atop the leaderboard. The tiebreaker for medalist started with the Sunday score on hole 18 and Chen had a birdie while Lee had a bogey.
Sophomore Flair Kuan rebounded from a tough opening day and tied for the low round on Sunday with a 73 to move up 21 spots on the leaderboard and finish tied for 13th at +16 (77-82-73--332).
All five BU golfers finished in the top 30 as freshman Victoria Takai (79-73-83--236), junior Alice Fan (82-77-77--236) and senior Hanako Kawasaki (76-75-85--236) all tied for 27th at +20.
This marked the Terriers' second tournament win of the season as they also took first in the SHU Fall Classic back in October.
BU now sets its sights on the Patriot League Championship, which will be played on April 15-17 at the USNA Golf Club in Annapolis, Md.
