WINCHESTER, Mass. – In a rematch of the 2021 Patriot League tournament final, the defending championship Boston University women's tennis team concluded the regular season with a 5-2 victory over Navy on Saturday afternoon at the Winchester Tennis Center.

With their seventh straight win, the Terriers improve to 12-7 (5-0 PL) and have claimed the top seed for next week's tourney, which will take place on April 22-24 at Lehigh. The Midshipmen (21-5, 4-1 PL) won two of the three doubles matches for the first point, but BU bounced back by capturing five of the six singles points in straight sets.

Senior Shelly Yaloz and sophomore Kaitlin Tan started off with a 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles. Navy though pulled out a 7-5 victory in the No. 3 slot and won the tiebreaker in the top match for the 7-6(6) win.

Sophomore Victoria Carlsten quickly tied the match with a dominating 6-0, 6-1 win at line 1. Freshman Michelle Kleynerman also dropped just one game in the No. 4 slot before Navy tied the match, 2-2, with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at line 2.

Freshman Sydney Sharma gave BU the lead for good by rolling to a 6-0, 6-4 victory at No. 6. Junior Erica Di Battista (#3) and Yaloz (#5) both dropped seven games apiece in straight-set victories to seal BU's team win.

The Terriers will next head to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania to open the PL tournament on Friday (April 22) against an opponent to be determined.
