SARASOTA, Fla. – Racing against the top crews in the nation, the Patriot League champion Boston University women's rowing team completed the first day of the NCAA Championships with two races apiece for each of the three boats.

In the morning session, the Terriers' varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four all competed in the third heat before racing again later in the afternoon in the second repechage. Seeded 19th by the NCAA committee, BU was one of 22 schools represented at the competition, and only the top 12 crews were able to clinch a spot in their respective A-B semifinals.

The Terriers' second varsity eight coxed by sophomore Trisha Jaggi and stroked by junior Tiare Hicks led the way with a pair of fifth-place finishes, first finishing ahead of Northeastern and then both Gonzaga and Jacksonville.

BU will next compete in the C-D semifinals on Saturday (May 28) starting at 8:12 a.m. in the V8. The 2V8 will follow at 9:12 a.m. with the V4 racing at 9:48 a.m.
