
Terriers Compete at Battle in Beantown

BOSTON – The Boston University women's cross country team finished 12th in the 5K at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown on Friday at Franklin Park.
BU scored 305 points in the race from one returner and four newcomers. Virginia won the 19-team race with a score of 27.
Paving the way for BU was graduate student Veronica Kriss (18:07) who placed 30th. Next in for the Terriers was sophomore Vera Sjöberg (18:18) in 37th followed by three freshmen: Olivia Dodds (18:51) in 75th, Addison Schmidt (18:56) in 81st and Candace Tytler (19:13) in 102nd. Shortly after, Rachel McKinnon (19:16) finished in 107th, Samantha Seabury (19:17) placed 109th and Madeleine Finton (19:31) closed out 123rd but did not score points for the Terriers.
In the 5K combined open race, freshmen Alex Vellekoop (19:51) and Kate Edenson (19:54) were the first to finish for BU in 70th and 75th. The final three runners for the Terriers finished consecutively: senior Anna Kavanagh (20:16) placed 85th, freshman Lily Borin (20:17) finished 86th and sophomore Sarah Hanifin (20:20) crossed the line 87th.
The Terriers will be back in action next weekend at the Paul Short Invite hosted by Lehigh on Friday, Sept. 30.
