BOSTON – Resuming Patriot League play with three regular season games left, the Boston University men's soccer team will head to Bucknell on Saturday with action set to begin at 1 p.m.
The Terriers are currently tied for second in the standings at 13 points alongside Lafayette with Loyola Maryland one point ahead in first place. Both BU and the Bison are coming off home draws with the Terriers striking late to tie Northeastern, 1-1, and Bucknell battling St. Bonaventure to a scoreless deadlock.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- With the equalizer against the Huskies, senior Eitan Rosen scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season, marking the most by a Terrier since 2019.
- Senior Andrew Rent set up Rosen for the score to become the third player this fall to earn multiple assists, joining Rosen (2) and graduate student Colin Innes (6).
- Rent and Rosen are the only two to have multiple goals and assists, with sophomore Alex Bonnington and graduate student Quinn Matulis joining them in earning multiple goals at three apiece.
- Senior Francesco Montali has started all six conference games this year, posting a .714 save percentage and 0.67 goals against average with shutouts against Holy Cross, Lehigh and Colgate.
- The Terriers are 2-3-2 on the road this year with wins at American and Saint Joseph's. They most recently dropped a 2-0 decision at Lafayette last Saturday.
- BU is averaging 0.8 more shots per game (9.9-9.1) despite opponents leading in corner kicks, 69-53.
SCOUTING BUCKNELL
- Bucknell is 0-3-3 at home this season, posting ties against American (3-3), George Mason (0-0) and St. Bonaventure (0-0).
- The Bison are currently on a 12-game winless slide after opening the year with a 2-1 win at Mount St. Mary's. Six of the losses have been decided by one goal apiece.
- Charlie Holmes leads Bucknell with seven points this season off three goals and one assist, while Zane Domoshn also owns three goals.
- Freddie Lapworth has started eight contests at net with a 1.93 GAA and .516 save percentage. Jake Nicoll has started six games, earning a .667 save percentage and 1.56 GAA.
- Opponents are averaging 1.2 more shots (10.0-8.8) despite the Bison leading in corner kicks, 67-53.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Terriers are 2-3-6 all-time against Bucknell in the series dating back to 2013.
- Only two of the contests have ended in regulation with the Terriers prevailing last year at home, 2-0, and the Bison earning a 3-0 victory in Lewisburg in 2019.
- Matulis assisted on both goals last season in the first half with both Innes and senior Griffin Roach both finding the back of the net.
- The Terriers are 0-1-5 all time on the road against Bucknell following a scoreless draw in 2021.
