Lightweight Rowing Takes On Boston College To Begin Spring
March 24, 2023 | Women's Lightweight Rowing
BOSTON – The Boston University lightweight rowing program ignites the 2023 spring schedule with a dual race against local foe Boston College on Saturday (March 25) on the Charles River.
Saturday's race is available to watch on ESPN+, requiring a subscription. Fans can watch online as well as through the ESPN app with the subscription. The broadcast begins with the BU women's and lightweight races against MIT and Boston College, respectively, and concludes with the men's rowing dual competition vs. Brown.
BU starts spring racing following its runner-up performance at the 2022 IRA Championships, earning silver in the double sculls and bronze in the Varsity 4. Back in the fall, all three crews posted top-nine finishes at the Head Charles, highlighted by Championship 8's third-place result.
The Terriers return 21 letterwinners from last year's squad, adding 12 newcomers. The roster features two seniors, 10 juniors, 11 sophomores, and 10 freshmen. Head Coach Malcolm Doldron is in his 11th season at the helm.
BU and Boston College square off in dual race action for the third year in a row. Last season, the Terriers swept all four events, highlighted by the V8's victory in a time of 7:14.9, over five seconds ahead of the Eagles' crew. In 2021, Boston College's V8 was victorious, but BU snagged wins in the V4 and 2x.
