Lightweight Rowing Set For Beanpot On Saturday Against Harvard-Radcliffe, MIT

BOSTON – The Boston University lightweight rowing program gears up for the 2023 edition of the Beanpot when it faces Harvard-Radcliffe and MIT on Saturday (April 8) on the Charles River.
Harvard will stream select races on ESPN+, requiring a subscription. Fans can watch online as well as through the ESPN app with the subscription.
BU vies for its sixth Beanpot in a row, dating back to 2016. Last year, the Terriers, Radcliffe, and the Engineers squared off with the Beanpot on the line for the first time since 2019. BU captured the Varsity 8 race in a time of 8:07.9 amidst challenging conditions in the first 1,000 meters, and placed first in the V4 and Double.
In their last race, the Terriers secured a sweep over Bates in the V8 and 2V8 events on April 1. The crews clocked in at 7:24.8 and 7:55.5, respectively.
Harvard-Radcliffe last competed in the Class of 1999 Cup against Princeton on April 1. Radcliffe earned a win in the V4, but was bested in the V8 and Double.
Last weekend, MIT took part in the San Diego Crew Classic. The Engineers' V8 shaved nearly two seconds off its heat time in the final, crossing the line at 7:23.332 for a sixth-place finish.
Following Saturday's races, BU travels down to the Cooper River Park for the Knecht Cup, which takes place from April 15-16.
