No. 13 Terriers Fall to Princeton

BOSTON – No. 13 Boston University women's ice hockey (10-5-1, 8-2-1 HE) dropped an 8-1 decision to Princeton (6-5-0, 3-5-0 ECAC) on Wednesday afternoon at Agganis Arena.
Princeton scored two goals in the opening frame and added three more to lead 5-0 after two periods. Freshman Kaileigh Quigg scored BU's lone goal 3:04 into the third, but the Tigers responded with three additional goals to secure the 8-1 win.
Senior goaltender Callie Shanahan made 24 saves in the loss. The Tigers' netminder, Jennifer Olnowich, set a career high in saves with 44 in between the posts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Princeton opened the scoring 9:36 into the first frame.
- It then tacked on another goal to build to a 2-0 lead at the 12:01 mark.
- BU was called for cross checking with 3:17 to go but successfully killed the penalty and ended the frame trailing 2-0.
- Just 36 seconds into the second, the Tigers scored their third goal of the game.
- The Terriers served a penalty for tripping at the 13:44 mark and Princeton scored on the power play.
- BU was called for hooking soon after and Princeton scored its second power-play goal of the game to lead 5-0.
- The Terriers entered the box again, this time for interference, but successfully killed off the penalty.
- Princeton went to the box for diving with 48 seconds to go in the second, but BU did not score on the power play.
- Senior Ani FitzGerald passed to graduate student Julia Shaunessy whose shot rebounded to Quigg, who scored BU's first goal of the game at the 3:04 mark in the third.
- BU went to the box for tripping and Princeton scored on the power play after winning a faceoff at the left circle.
- The Tigers extended their lead to 7-1 just 26 seconds later.
- Princeton tacked on one final goal at the 15:59 mark to defeat BU, 8-1.
GAME NOTES
- BU outshot Princeton 45 to 32.
- The Terriers won 38 faceoffs to Princeton's 25.
- Princeton was 3-for-5 on the power play while BU was 0-for-1.
- BU blocked nine shots while Princeton blocked seven.
