Men's Tennis Rolls Past Fordham, 6-1

HARRISON, N.Y. – After dropping a tightly-contested doubles point, the Boston University men's tennis team rolled in singles play to a 6-1 victory at Fordham Saturday afternoon.
The Terriers (2-2) captured four of the six singles points in straight sets to hand the Rams a season-opening defeat.
In doubles action, sophomore Alejandro Licea teamed with senior Johann Sajonz for a 6-1 victory in the No. 3 slot. Fordham though grabbed the early 1-0 lead, posting a 6-2 win at line 2 and finishing with one extra break for the 6-4 decision on court No. 1.
Freshman Gustavs Dambins quickly put the Terriers on the scoreboard, dropping just one game for a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles. Sophomore Jakob Esterowitz then grabbed the lead for good with a 6-1, 6-2 victory in the No. 2 slot.
Sophomore Corey Craig posted a 7-5, 6-3 win at line 1, and senior Jonah Dickson won a first-set tiebreaker before cruising in the second for a 7-6(5), 6-2 victory in the No. 4 slot.
In the two remaining matches, Licea improved to 2-0 on the day with a 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 win on court No. 3, and junior Dion Loutas sealed the singles sweep with a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0(8) win at line 5.
The Terriers will next visit Sacred Heart on Sunday (Feb. 4) at 5:30 p.m.
