Collins Selected as PL Scholar-Athlete of the Year; Four Terriers Highlight Academic All-PL Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Sophomore Freddy Collins of the Boston University track & field team was named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the league announced Friday. In addition, graduate student Foster Malleck, junior Ryan Rosenberger and sophomore Moritz Ebbeskotte were selected to the Academic All-Patriot League Team.
This is the first Scholar-Athlete of the Year selection of Collins' career. At the indoor championships, he took home gold in the 3,000m and silver in the 5,000m. Collins boasts a 3.67 GPA and is persuing a degree in mechanical engineering.
Malleck ran to gold in the mile and silver in both the distance medley and 4x800m relays. His academic selection is the first of his career. Malleck is perduing a M.S. in financial management and has a 3.94 GPA.
Rosenberger earned his first-ever title at the indoor championships with a gold-medal performance in the long jump. This marks the first academic all-patriot league selection of his career. Rosenberger is enrolled in Questrom and has a 3.56 GPA.
Ebbeskotte was a second team all-patriot league finisher at the league meet thanks to his performance in the 4x800m relay. Working towards a degree in biomedical engineering with a 3.77 GPA, this is the first academic team selection of his career.
For the first time since joining the Patriot League, BU completed a sweep of the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year. In addition to Sjöberg, sophomore Freddy Collins was named the men's indoor track & field Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
The Terriers will compete again in the outdoor season, beginning with the Miami Hurricane Invitational on March 15.
