Ersan, Goodness Named CRCA Athletes To Watch
March 14, 2024 | Women's Lightweight Rowing
WILMINGTON, Del. – Boston University lightweight rowing junior Zoey Goodness and sophomore Ela Ersan were selected as Athletes To Watch as part of the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association's (CRCA) Preseason Watch, the organization announced on Tuesday (Mar. 12).
The CRCA Athletes To Watch list is in its inaugural season, spotlighting lightweight student-athletes as well as openweight rowers across Divisions I, II, and III. Goodness and Ersan were among eight lightweight rowers and one coxswain on the list. BU, Georgetown, and Wisconsin were the lone programs with multiple rowers selected.
In her second season at BU, Goodness was the six seat in BU's Varsity 8 for the majority of the season. She helped the Terrier crew place fourth at the 2023 IRA National Championship Regatta, and captured the Evelyn Bergman trophy with a first-place finish at the Dad Vail Regatta that year.
Ersan also competed in the Varsity 8 for the bulk of the spring campaign, occupying the three seat. In addition to the above feats, she guided her crew to another Beanpot title, and was part of the Lightweight Championship 8 that earned the bronze at the 2022 Head of the Charles.
Both Terriers sat in the Lightweight Championship 8 at the 2023 Head of the Charles, which recorded its first silver-medal performance since 2017, and third overall.
BU, under first-year head coach Mary Foster, ignites the spring season on Saturday (Mar. 30), taking on MIT and Wellesley on the Charles River.
