April 18, 2024

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Aiming for its fourth Patriot League title, the Boston University women's golf team will take on its conference mates for the 2024 Patriot League Championship at Bucknell Golf Club on April 19-21.

The 54-hole tournament will feature 18 holes each day and the Terriers will tee off on Friday at 9:30 a.m. BU has won three Patriot League titles with the most recent coming in 2022.

Last season, BU finished runner-up to tournament host Richmond with then-sophomore Christy Chen taking the individual title with a record score of 212 (74-69-69), shattering the previous PL Championship mark of 219. Chen automatically went on to qualify for the NCAA Regionals thanks to her medalist finish.

This year, Chen has finished in the top five in eight of BU's nine tournaments with four individual wins and enters the league tournament with a scoring average of 73.45. She was one of 20 standouts named to the 2023-24 ANNIKA Award Final Fall Watch List as that honor is given annually to the top NCAA women's golfer.

In the Terriers' most recent tournament, freshman Amy Han won the individual title at the Hartford Hawks Invitational last weekend to help BU claim its third team title of the season. BU is returning the scene of its first title of the season as the Terriers triumphed at the Bucknell Invitational back in September.

Each team at the PL Championship will consists of six golfers with the top four scorers in each round counting toward the team score. Individual scoring consists of the lowest aggregate score of all completed rounds.

Junior Meiqi Gao, who has four top-20 finishes in her first season with the Terriers, will be in the No. 1 slot for the Terriers while Han will be No. 2. Chen will start from the No. 3 slot and the bottom half of the lineup will be sophomore Annika Manjunath, junior Victoria Takai and freshman Hibiki Adachi. Manjunath is second on the team in top-20 finishes this season with five.
