April 6, 2024 | Women's Lightweight Rowing
BOSTON – The Boston University lightweight rowing program continues spring racing on the Charles River when it hosts Bates and Boston College on Sunday (April 7).
The morning starts with the Varsity 8+ competing at 7:45 a.m. Sunday's races will air on ESPN+, beginning 7:35 a.m.
Weather conditions as of writing are expected to feature temperatures in the upper 40s with clouds giving way to sunny skies. Winds are expected to come from the north as high as 10 miles per hour.
BU is fresh off a sweep of Wellesley and MIT's openweight crews back on March 30. The Terriers captured wins in the Varsity 8 and Second Varsity 8 by 12-plus seconds in both events. The Third Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 were first by 20-plus seconds.
Boston College will face off against MIT the day before Sunday's race in Boston. Earlier this spring, the Eagles were victorious in the Second Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 at the Jesuit Invitational from March 22-23. Boston College's Varsity 8 and Varsity 4 then recorded top-five results at the Sunshine State Invitational last weekend.
Bates will take on Simmons and the MIT lightweight crews the day earlier before Sunday's racing. Back on March 23, the Bobcats' three eights finished third behind Columbia and Drexel.
Following Sunday's racing, the Terriers will head to New Jersey for the Knecht Cup on the Cooper River from April 13-14.
