BU begins racing on Day 1 at 10:12 a.m. in the third heat of the Varsity 8. The Second Varsity 8 hits the course for the second heat at 10:48 a.m., while the Varsity 4 races in the second heat at 11:36 a.m. The top three crews in those heats advance to the A/B Semifinals on Saturday (June 1), while the remainder move to the C/D Semifinals.
The Terriers are set to compete in their third NCAA Championships as a Patriot League member, previously racing in 2014 and 2022. BU is one of 11 automatic qualifiers and conference champions competing in the 22-school field. BU's V8 was seeded 19th, while the 2V8 and V4 slotted 18th.
In BU's last appearance at the NCAA Championships in 2022, the Terriers registered 23 points, improving on its previous mark eight years prior. The V8 placed first in the D Final to finish 19th overall, while the 2V8 appeared in the C Final to place 18th in the field.
Eight Terriers that rowed in that regatta will do so again this weekend: captains
Susan Cook and
Anna Dechantsreiter, coxswains
Audrey Lucerne and
Trisha Jaggi,
Luisa Reussner,
Bianca Saffirio,
Mariana Forehand, and
Hannah Look.
The Terriers captured the 2024 Patriot League Championship back on May 17, sweeping the V8, 2V8, and V4 Grand Finals for the first time since joining the conference. The V8 was named the Boat of the Year for the first time since 2017, while Director of Women's Rowing Malcolm Doldron was tabbed as the Coach of the Year in his first season at the helm.
Following the regatta, six Terriers garnered All-Patriot League recognition. Cook, Dechantsreiter, Forehand, and Lucerne were First Team selections, while
Camilla Silvestri and
Ingrid Eshuis made appearances on the Second Team. Dechantsreiter was also named the program's first-ever Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year, securing Academic All-Patriot League honors with
Lulu November.
