
Bladon Named PL Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Joins Malleck and Ebbeskotte on Academic All-PL Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Senior Stuart Bladon of the Boston University track & field team was named the outdoor Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the league announced Thursday. Bladon also joins graduate student Foster Malleck and sophomore Moritz Ebbeskotte on the Academic All-Patriot League Team.
Bladon won the decathlon at the Patriot League Championships with a score of 7,171 points. He placed in the top three in every event, notably winning the 100m, 400m, pole vault, long jump and javelin. The Newbury, England, native not only scored his highest career points total but also broke his own school record in the event. Bladon is pursuing a double major in economics and neuroscience and has a 3.86 GPA. This is his first career scholar-athlete and academic team recognition.
Malleck won the 1,500m in 3:44.27 at the Patriot League Championships to pick up his third consecutive title in the event. He also reached the podium in the 4x800m with an anchor leg that helped BU take second place. The Kitchener, Ont., native is completing his M.S. in financial management and boasts a 3.94 GPA. This is his second career selection to the academic team after earning the honor in the indoor season.
Ebbeskotte was also a Second Team All-Patriot League finisher thanks to his help on BU's 4x800m relay team. The sophomore also scored points in the 1,500m (3:48.09) placing fifth and the 5,000m (14:28.58) placing eighth. Working towards a degree in biomedical engineering with a 3.77 GPA, this is his second academic team selection as he received the honor in the indoor season as well.
The Terriers will travel for one last weekend of competition to the Yale Elite Last Chance Meet, the IC4A/ECAC Championships and the NEICCCA Championships.
