BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Sophomore Vera Sjöberg and junior Asia Hamilton of the Boston University track & field team were selected to the outdoor Academic All-Patriot League Team, the league announced Thursday.
Sjöberg took home two gold medals at the Patriot League Championships, successfully defending her 1,500m title (4:30.30) from 2023 and adding on a 5,000m title (16:38.42). The sophomore also helped the Terriers place third in the 4x800m relay with an anchor leg of 2:06. The Stockholm, Sweden, native has made the Academic All-Patriot League team three times this season after earning the accolade in cross country and indoor track. The English major who boasts a 3.96 GPA was also the scholar-athlete of the year for both cross country and indoor track.
Hamilton reached the podium twice at the Patriot League Championships. She placed second in both the high jump (1.76m (5' 9.25")) and long jump (5.83m (19' 1.5")) to score 16 points for BU. Her long jump podium appearance helped BU sweep the event for the first time since joining the Patriot League. Hamilton is pursuing a major in film & television and has a 3.79 GPA.
The Terriers will travel for one last weekend of competition to the Yale Elite Last Chance Meet, the IC4A/ECAC Championships and the NEICCCA Championships.
