July 11, 2024 | Men's Soccer
BOSTON – The defending Patriot League champion Boston University men's soccer team has unveiled the 2024 schedule with nine of the 17 regular season contests taking place at Nickerson Field, head coach Kevin Nylen announced Thursday afternoon.
Last fall, the Terriers made their 75th campaign a memorable one with a 12-4-4 (7-1-1 PL) record, as they swept the PL regular season and tournament titles for the first time in 11 years as a member while also making their first NCAA appearance since 2015.
Riding a 14-game home unbeaten streak (11-0-3), BU will start the new season by welcoming America East champion and 2023 NCAA third round participant New Hampshire to Nickerson Field on Thursday, August 22, with a 4 p.m. start time. After visiting in-state rivals Northeastern (Aug. 27) and UMass Lowell (Sept. 1), the Terriers next will host a pair of West Coast squads in St. Mary's (Sept. 5) and Santa Clara (Sept. 8).
The PL regular season title defense will begin at home on Saturday, Sept. 14, against Army West Point and continue on the road in September at Loyola Maryland (Sept. 21) and Lehigh (Sept. 28). The Terriers will also face two more non-conference foes by visiting Brown (Sept. 17) and hosting Boston College (Sept. 24).
October will start off with three home games against two PL squads, Lafayette (Oct. 5) and Bucknell (Oct. 12), along with the final non-conference opponent in Harvard (Oct. 8). The Terriers will wrap up the month at Colgate (Oct. 19) and then vs. American (Oct. 26) in the last home game of the regular season.
BU will trek to Navy on Nov. 1 and conclude conference play at Holy Cross on Nov. 5 with a Turnpike Trophy point on the line.
The top six finishers in the PL standings advance to the conference tournament with the No. 1 and 2 seeds earning a first round bye. Tournament play begins on Nov. 9 with the semifinals set for Nov. 12 and the title game taking place on Nov. 16.
Fans will have their first opportunity to check out the new squad on Friday, Aug. 9, when the Terriers host Stonehill in a scrimmage set for a 10 a.m. start time. BU will also host Quinnipiac (Aug. 13) and Fordham (Aug. 17) in exhibition games.
