
Cross Country Opens Season at Ken O’Brien Minuteman Invite

AMHERST, Mass. – The Boston University cross country teams opened their season at the Ken O'Brien Minuteman Invite at UMass on Saturday. The men's squad finished third with 75 points and the women's squad finished fourth with 83 points. The Terriers went up against athletes from UMass, Northeastern and Central Connecticut to begin the 2024 slate.
In the men's 6K, all five of BU's freshmen made their collegiate debut. Daniel Hruska led the Terriers with a time of 18:34.46 to come in fifth overall. James American Horse finished 10th in a time of 19:02.13 and was followed by Isaac Mahler in 15th with a time of 19:13.85. Brandon Piedade was next in for BU with a time of 19:35.13, good for 22nd. Rounding out the scoring five was Jacob Sushinsky who finished 29th overall with a time of 20:01.75.
The women raced in a 4K and were led by sophomore Molly Kiley who finished eighth in 14:29.96. Junior Olivia Dodds was next in for BU with a time of 14:51.32, good for 17th. Fellow juniors Candace Tytler (15:13.47) and Madeleine Finton (15:14.28) finished 23rd and 24th, respectively. The final scoring Terrier was freshman Mullane Baumiller who ran 15:47.41 to finish 31st overall.
BU will continue its season with the Shawn M. Nassaney Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 7 at Bryant.
