BOSTON — Junior Vera Sjöberg broke the school record in the mile with a time of 4:33.92 and graduate student Foster Malleck broke the 3K school record with a 7:50.96 time as the Boston University track & field team notched six top 10 times at the Battle in Beantown Saturday at the Track & Tennis Center.

The day began with the team's senior day ceremony, honoring the 23 seniors who will be graduating from the program this year, followed by the Jarred Rome Shot Put Invitational Ceremony, which honors the legacy of former BU throws coach Jarred Rome. After the ceremony, a flight of throwers threw the shot put on the infield of the TTC in honor of Rome.

Top 10 Terriers

• Junior Madison Sorrell threw her shot 14.13 meters during the Jarred Rome Shot Put Invitational, making her fifth all-time at BU.
• Freshman Iman Roka made her debut in the 60-meter hurdles, winning the event and posting a time of 8.69, giving her seventh place on the top 10 list.
• Sjöberg's school record is the sixth-best time in Division I entering the weekend.
• Junior Michael Onilogbo ran a time of 21.37 seconds in the 200m dash, moving into eighth all-time at BU.
• Sophomore Karsen Vesty won the 800m run from the second heat and crossed the line in 1:50.18, ninth-best all-time at BU.
• Malleck's record is the second he now owns for the Terriers after breaking the school record in the mile a season ago.

Top Performers

WOMEN

• On top of their school records, Sjöberg won the mile race and Malleck finished second in the 3000 meters.
• Senior Jada Smith won the 200m in 24.62 seconds.
• Freshman Alexis Caggiano made her BU debut, finishing third in the 400m dash (57.60) and seventh in the 200 meters (25.28).
• Freshman Leonni Griffin ran a 1:33.51 time in the 600 meters to finish second.
• Sophomore Ola Szulska won the 3000m in 9:58.07 in her first time running the event in the scarlet & white.
• Graduate student Juliana Nakouzi finished second (14.40m) in the Jarred Rome Invitational and third in the weight throw (17.53m) and was just .3 meters away from her personal best in the weight throw.
• Senior Kiana Lino took third in the Jarred Rome Invitational with a throw of 14.13 meters.
• The Terriers went 1-2-3-4 in the long jump, as senior Jamie Chamberlain won the event with a 5.80-meter attempt, followed by junior Peace Omonzane (5.74m), senior Asia Hamilton (5.72m) and senior Emma Lawrence (5.62m).
• Hamilton also took second in the high jump, clearing a 1.65m bar.

MEN

• Onilogbo also finished second in the 60m dash with a 6.84 time.
• Senior Matt Spicer took second in the 400 meters, running a time of 48.54 seconds.
• Freshman Thomas Cowan finished runner-up in the 600m with a 1:19.25 mark.
• In the men's shot put, senior Steven Franco took second with a 13.14m heave.
