NORTH ALLSTON, Mass. – The Boston University women's tennis team wrapped up competition at the ITA New England Regional Championships. BU was led by sophomore Gabriella Mikaul, who advanced to the round of 32 in the main singles draw.
 
Mikaul defeated opponents from Yale and Syracuse in the rounds of 64 and 32, respectively, in straight sets. In the round of 16, the sophomore battled back from a first set loss to win the other two sets 6-0, 6-3 to bypass her Harvard foe and advance to the quarterfinals. In that round, she fell to No. 80 Serafima Shastova of Syracuse, 6-2, 6-2.
 
Freshmen Vasilisa Borisova and Lauren Kettlewell advanced through the singles qualifying draw to earn bids in the main draw. Borisova battled past opponents from Patriot League for Colgate and UMass and Kettlewell defeated opponents from URI and Fairfield to play on in the main draw. Kettlewell fell in the round of 64 to a Cornell foe while Borisova defeated her Harvard opponent. She went on to the round of 32 but ultimately lost to her Marist opponent.
 
Junior Ellie Gyuro also advanced to the round of 32 in the main draw in singles. She took down an opponent from UConn to advance to the second round but fell to Shen from Brown.
 
In doubles, junior Nancy Liu and Mikaul went 1-0 on the weekend with a win over UMass to advance to the round of 16.
