OCEANSIDE, N.Y. – Wrapping up the trip to New York, the Boston University men's tennis team fell to Adelphi, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Point Set Indoor Racquet Club.
The Panthers (5-2) first claimed the doubles point and then captured five of the six singles points, including two in three-set clashes, to defeat the Terriers (0-5).
Senior Gabe Brown and freshman Jaydon Barki led BU in doubles play with a 6-4 victory at line 2. The Panthers won the point though with a 6-1 victory in the top slot and a win by default at line 3.
During singles action, graduate student Jonah Dickson rolled to a 6-4, 6-2 win on court 2. Trying to earn another point for the Terriers, senior Cole Knutsen went back-and-forth with Andrea Albiero before ultimately coming up short in a three-set battle, 5-7, 7-6(1), 7-5.
Freshman Ege Topkoc rallied to force a third set on court 4 in another tightly-contested loss to the Panthers, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. Brown battled to a tiebreaker in his first set at line 1 but came up on the short end of a 7-6(3), 6-4 decision.
