Terriers Stumble at Home Against Merrimack

WINCHESTER, Mass. — An undermanned Boston University men's tennis team could not overcome the Merrimack Warriors on Friday night at Winchester Tennis Club, falling 4-0 with three losses by default.
The Terrriers lost the doubles point despite a win from freshman Jaydon Barki and senior Gabe Brown, who won 6-2 at line two. Junior Cole Knutsen and freshman Ege Topkoc lost at line one, 6-3, and the Warriors picked up a win by default at line three.
The Warriors clinched the team win with its first match of singles play. At line one, Brown was locked into a three-set battle, winning the first set 7-6 (9-7), then dropping the second set 3-6. He was down 2-3 in the final set before Merrimack clinched the match.
Knutsen was also on the precipice of going three sets with his opponent at line two, as he dropped set one 4-6 and was leading 6-5 before the match was clinched.
The Terriers will stay local for their next match, playing Patriot League foe Navy on Sunday, March 23 at 10 a.m. at the Harvard Murr Center in Allston, Massachusetts.
