BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Graduate student Foster Malleck was named the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the indoor track & field season, the league office announced Wednesday morning.
The Terriers also had three Academic All-Patriot League honors in Malleck, junior Freddy Collins and sophomore Karsen Vesty.
This is Malleck's first Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year honor and his third Academic All-Patriot League honor. His win marks the third straight year a Terrier has won the award - the first such instance in program history.
The Kitchener, Ontario native won gold in the mile and 3000m at the PL Indoor Championships and had season-best times in the top 50 of NCAA DI in each of those events. He is pursuing a M.S. in project management and boasts a 3.93 GPA.

Vesty, a sophomore from Havelock North, New Zealand, took fourth in the mile and was part of the men's distance medley relay crew that took fourth place at the PL Indoor Championships. Vesty is majoring in mechanical engineering and has a 3.95 GPA through three semesters.
On the women's side, junior Vera Sjöberg also won PL Scholar-Athlete of the Year, marking the second straight year in which BU has swept the Scholar-Athlete awards.
Malleck has earned qualification to the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships in the mile run - he will race Friday, March 14 in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The rest of the squad will look toward the outdoor season, beginning with the USF Alumni Invitational Friday, March 21 in Tampa, Florida.
