Women’s Rowing to Race No. 18 Columbia, Compete for Council Cup Against Northeastern

BOSTON – The Boston University women's rowing program will once again race on the Charles River on Saturday (April 12) against Northeastern and No. 18 Columbia.
Saturday's races will air on ESPN+ beginning at 8 a.m. with the Varsity 8+. Live results can be found on HereNow at this link. BU's Varsity 8+ race against the Huskies will be for the Council Cup.

LAST TIME OUT
- BU competed against No. 22 Dartmouth, MIT and Northeastern on the Charles River.
- The Terriers came in second in the Varsity 8+ with a time of 6:27.1 and collected Patriot League boat of the week honors.
- BU's Third Varsity 8+, Varsity 4+ and Second Varsity 4+ all finished in first in their respective races.
SCOUTING COLUMBIA
- Columbia is ranked No. 18 in the CRCA poll.
- Columbia opened its season at the Ohio State Regatta, competing against Indiana and Ohio State.
- The Lions won all their races against then-No. 16 Indiana in the Varsity 8+, the Second Varsity 8+, the Varsity 4+ and the Second Varsity 4+.
- Columbia finished behind then-No. 15 Ohio State's Varsity 8+ by only four seconds.
SCOUTING NORTHEASTERN
- Northeastern most recently raced against BU, MIT and No. 22 Dartmouth on the Charles.
- The Huskies finished behind the Terriers in every race except the Second Varsity 8+, finishing second overall with a time of 6:40.8.
SERIES HISTORY
- In 2024, BU lost the Council Cup to the Huskies but posted back-to-back victories in the Second Varsity 8+ and the Varsity 4+.
- The Terriers used to face Columbia in Beanpot competition in 2009 and 2010.
- In 2009, BU came in ahead of Columbia in the Varsity 8+, the Second Varsity 8+ and the Varsity 4+.
- Columbia bested BU in three out of four races in 2010, with the Terriers only winning the Varsity 4+.
LOOKING AHEAD
- BU will travel to the Lake Wheeler Invite in Raleigh, N.C., later this month.
- The competition is set for April 25-26.
