JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Four members of the Boston University track & field team competed at the NCAA East First Rounds on Wednesday night at Hodges Stadium.
On top of the Jacksonville heat, athletes had to endure a weather delay of over four hours, meaning track events did not begin until 10 p.m.
Junior
Parker Schneider's 1500m heat began around 10:30, and he concluded his season by placing 45
th with a time of 3:52.62. Schneider earned the 4
th spot on the Top 10 Terrier list this season with a 3:41.14 mark and took bronze at the Patriot League Championships in the event while also earning gold in the 4x800m.
In the following heat, sophomore
Karsen Vesty posted a 3:42.40 time, finishing eighth in his heat and had the 22
nd-fastest preliminary time of the meet, but failed to qualify for the NCAA quarterfinal based on the race rules of five qualifiers from each heat plus the next four fastest times. He concludes his breakout 2025 campaign with a Patriot League silver medal in the 1500m, a gold medal in the 4x800m, and the third-fastest mark at BU in the 1500m of 3:40.21. Vesty also moved into fifth all-time at BU in the 800m with a 1:48.21 mark.
Junior
Owen Faulha competed in the javelin throw, reaching 60.51m and placing 39th. He finished his best season as a Terrier in which he broke the BU school record in the javelin with a 67.45m throw at the and won BU's first-ever men's gold in the javelin at the Patriot League Championships.
Senior Samuel Roszak wrapped up his collegiate career with a 7.11m effort in the men's long jump, placing 38th. He finishes a year where he took home a silver medal at the Patriot League Championships in the long jump with his personal best 7.53m. That mark was good for second all-time at BU.
The women's team will take to the track Thursday, May 29 as they open their side of the NCAA East First Rounds. The men's side is back on the track on Friday, May 30.
