BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After helping lead the Boston University men's soccer team to a 3-2 victory at No. 24 Bucknell with a three-point performance, sophomore
Pharis Petrica has earned Patriot League Midfielder of the Week honors, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
A native of Buerstadt, Germany, Petrica played a critical role in the Terriers' first win over a ranked team since 2022 by first netting an equalizer at 11:29 and then assisting on the second game-tying goal at 28:32. He previously delivered a three-point performance in BU's 5-1 victory at Charleston to claim his first Midfielder of the Week award on Sept. 1.
The first PL player to earn a second Midfielder weekly accolade intercepted a pass at midfield and quickly scored his second goal of the season by sending a shot over the keeper, who was too far up away from the net. For the Terriers' next goal, he pounced on a loose ball and made an impressive move through a pair of Bison defenders to set up senior
Ethan Gill's score from 10 yards out.
Following the victory, Petrica moved into a tie with junior
Lapo Romieri atop the team lead at seven points (2g, 3a). Both men and the rest of the squad will next conclude a three-game road trip at Harvard on Tuesday night with a 7 p.m. start time.
