Terrier Trio Earns Patriot League Weekly Honors
September 8, 2025 | Men's Soccer
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After opening the home schedule with a 3-1 victory over Brown, the Boston University men's soccer team landed three Patriot League weekly honors, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Junior Lapo Romieri earned Midfielder of the Week honors behind a three-point performance, while freshman Austin Mobray netted his first career goal to claim Rookie of the Week accolades. Senior and Defensive Player of the Week Aidan Kieffer played all 90 minutes in the backline to help the Terriers avenge last year's 5-1 road loss against the Bears.
During Friday night's matchup, Romieri broke a scoreless deadlock less than one minute into the second half for his second goal of the fall. The Milan, Italy, native made a run into the box on the left side and directed junior Andrea Di Blasio's pass at the far post for the 1-0 advantage.
Three minutes later, Romieri helped double the lead by making multiple impressive moves through Brown defenders to the top of the box and then find Mobray on the left side for an eight-yard blast sent toward the far post. A native of Washingtonville, N.Y., Mobray not only recorded his first goal as a Terrier but also his first game winner due to the Bears avoiding the shutout on a successful free kick at 52:46.
Kieffer claimed his second career Defensive Player of the Week award after first earning the nod in 2023 while at Bucknell. Both he and senior goalkeeper Ben Alexander were the lone Terriers to play all 90 minutes Friday night. A Portland, Maine, native, Kieffer helped the backline clear five corner kicks and successfully defend against nine shot attempts.
The two-time defending regular season champion Terriers will next visit Army West Point in the Patriot League opener for both squads on Saturday (Sept. 13) with a 6 p.m. start time.
