Terriers Drop 5-2 Decision to Vermont

BOSTON – The Boston University women's ice hockey team (7-14-3, 5-8-2 HE) fell to Vermont (11-12-4, 5-7-3 HE) in a 5-2 decision on Friday night at Walter Brown Arena.
After an uneventful first period, Vermont scored four unanswered goals, three of which came on the power play, before BU responded with a power-play goal of its own in the third. The Catamounts and the Terriers each tacked on a goal through the remainder of play, with Vermont's coming shorthanded, resulting in BU's 5-2 loss.
Sophomore Keira Healey scored her first collegiate goal on the power play while senior Sydney Healey scored BU's second goal. Seniors Maeve Carey and S. Healey assisted on K. Healey's goal. Graduate student Michelle Pasiechnyk made 27 saves in net.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams skated well through the first period with BU outshooting Vermont, 12 to nine.
- Just 2:04 into the second, BU was called for hooking.
- The Terriers were then successful on the penalty kill.
- Vermont gained control of the puck in the BU zone after poking away a Terrier pass.
- The Catamounts then worked their way around the goal to score, taking a 1-0 lead at the 5:03 mark.
- BU challenged for contact to the head with 6:29 to go in the middle stanza and was unsuccessful.
- The Terriers were called for boarding at 14:45 and Vermont capitalized on the advantage, scoring a power-play goal at 15:34.
- At the 17:28 mark, BU was called for boarding again and the Catamounts scored on the power play five seconds later to take a 3-0 lead.
- Vermont went to the box for hooking at 1:14 in the third and BU did not score on the power play.
- BU was called for slashing with 13:04 to play and Vermont scored on the power play once again, taking a 4-0 lead.
- The Catamounts went to the box for hooking at the 10:37 mark.
- The Terreirs capitalized when passes from S. Healey and Carey set up K. Healey, who fired off a shot from the far circle to score BU's first goal of the game.
- Vermont was called for holding at 11:13 and scored its fifth goal of the game, shorthanded.
- At 19:12, S. Healey blocked a pass and broke away to score and cut into Vermont's lead, 5-2.
- Vermont held on through the final stretch of play to defeat BU, 5-2.
