Terriers Fall to Vermont, 2-1

BOSTON – The Boston University women's ice hockey team (7-15-3, 5-9-2 HE) dropped a 2-1 decision to Vermont (12-12-4, 6-7-3 HE) on Saturday evening at Walter Brown Arena.
BU got to work quickly, taking a 1-0 lead 20 seconds into the game. Vermont tied things up midway in the first and scored a power-play goal in the second to take a 2-1 lead which it never relinquished. The Terriers pulled their netminder in the final minutes but could not find the back of the net, ultimately falling to Vermont, 2-1.
Senior Sydney Healey scored the lamplighter for the Terriers and was assisted by senior Clara Yuhn and sophomore Kaileigh Quigg. Graduate student Michelle Pasiechnyk make 31 saves in net.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU opened the scoring 20 seconds into the game when passes from Quigg and Yuhn set up S. Healey, whose shot from the point snuck in past Vermont's netminder.
- Vermont then tied the game 1-1 at the 10:12 mark.
- After an evenly matched stretch lasting into the second frame, BU went to the box for slashing with 8:18 to play.
- The Catamounts scored on the power play to take a 2-1 lead at the 13:16 mark.
- Just 28 seconds into the third, Vermont was called for tripping.
- BU did not find the back of the net on the power play.
- The Terriers went to the box for body checking at the 4:55 mark and were successful on the penalty kill.
- Vermont was called for cross checking with 12:30 to play in the third and BU did not convert on the power play opportunity.
- The Catamounts went back to the box for slashing at the 11:48 mark and added a second to the box for boarding at 12:26, creating a 5-on-3 advantage for the Terriers.
- Both penalties cleared without a change in score.
- BU pulled Pasiechnyk from the posts with 2:03 to play.
- The Catamounts held off the Terriers' advances through the remainder of the period as BU fell, 2-1.
GAME NOTES
- BU blocked 10 shots while Vermont blocked 14.
- Vermont was 1-for-2 on the power play while BU was 0-for-4.
- Vermont had 33 shots on goal while BU had 28.
- BU won 29 faceoffs compared to Vermont's 21.
