BOSTON – Coming off its fifth overtime contest of the season, the Boston University men's basketball team will host Navy Wednesday night with a 7 p.m. tip.
The Terriers are currently tied-for-fifth with three other programs in the Patriot League standings, while the Midshipmen currently lead the conference at 7-1.

TERRIER TIDBITS
- With a 1-2 OT record in conference play following Saturday's 80-79 loss at Colgate, BU has required extra time in three of four games for the first time since the 2006-07 season. Competing in at least five OT contests for the first time since 2008-09, the Terriers are 2-3 with wins over Lafayette (77-73) and Northeastern (76-75).
- Junior Michael McNair leads the Terriers at 16.4 ppg by shooting 45.8 3FG%, NCAA's sixth-best mark, and averaging 3.1 made 3-pointers.
- Ranking second on the team at 14.2 ppg, sophomore Ben Defty owns five double-doubles with a team-high average of 6.9 rpg.
- Freshman Chance Gladden is the third Terrier averaging double figures in points at 13.1 ppg and dishing out an average of 4.5 assists per game.
- BU ranks 36th nationally shooting 48.9 FG% and 19th at 38.4 3FG% to average 75.9 ppg while holding opponents to 76.6 ppg and 47.3 FG%.
- The Midshipmen are riding a three-game win steak with 17+ point home wins over Army (84-56) and Holy Cross (85-68) following an 82-79 double overtime victory at Lehigh.
- They are 10-1 at home compared to the 5-5 away record with the lone PL loss occurring at American (65-51). Navy also earned notable road wins at Delaware State (66-59) and Presbyterian (76-55)
- Navy and BU shared one non-conference opponent with Penn State beating the Terriers, 96-87, and the Mids, 80-71.
- Patriot League Preseason Player of the Year and 5-foot-11 guard Austin Benigni leads Navy at 18.7 ppg with 4.3 apg, while 6-foot-11 center Aidan Kehoe is averaging a double-double at 15.0 ppg and 10.6 rpg helped by a 72.6 field goal shooting percentage.
- Navy is averaging 73.9 ppg and 46.1 FG% while holding opponents to 64.1 ppg and 40.5 FG%. The Mids only average 6.6 made 3FGs per game but make up for it with 5.6 more free throws than opponents, 17.1-11.5.
- BU leads the all-time series, 15-14, after dropping an 82-77 decision on the road back on Dec. 31.
- Benigni tallied 27 points and Kehoe posted a double-double (15 pts., 15 rebs.) for Navy, while Gladden totaled a team-high 26 points. The Mids earned a 22-10 advantage in made free throws and 10-9 edge in made 3-pointers alongside a 37-28 win in rebounds.
- Last season, both home teams won during the regular season by 15+ points before Navy eliminated the Terriers in the PL tournament, 86-78, at Case Gym.
- During the 2023-24 campaign, both home teams won again during the regular season, and BU prevailed in the PL tournament matchup, 70-61.
- The Terriers won the first-ever meeting in the 1959 NCAA tournament to reach the Elite Eight.
