Women’s Tennis Defeats Bryant, 5-2

WINCHESTER, Mass. – The Boston University women's tennis team (2-2) posted a 5-2 win over Bryant (0-2) on Sunday evening at the Winchester Tennis Club.
Bryant got the first win in doubles, taking a victory at line three. BU responded shortly thereafter with wins in the top two spots to secure the doubles point. Junior Blanka DeMicheli and senior Rhea Rai won at line two first in a 6-4 outcome. Sophomore Gabriella Mikaul and junior Nancy Liu won in the top spot, 7-5, to clinch the doubles point.
Singles saw BU get its second point with a win at line four, thanks to sophomore Madison Liu, who won in an efficient 6-2, 6-3 decision. Bryant got on the board next with a win at the No. 6 spot, but senior Emily Zhao responded with a 7-5, 7-5 win at the No. 5 spot to help BU near clinching the match.
N. Liu sealed the deal for the Terriers with a 7-5, 6-4 win at line two to give BU its second win of the season. Play continued at the Nos. 1 and 3 spots, with BU winning at the top of the lineup and Bryant earning its second win at line three. Mikaul won at line one in a 6-4, 7-6 (6) decision to bring the Terriers their fifth and final point of the match as BU defeated Bryant, 5-2.
BU will continue its season on Saturday (Feb. 7) when it travels to Colgate for its first Patriot League match of the season. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
