
Omonzane, Lascelles Earn Patriot League Weekly Awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Senior Peace Omonzane and freshman Samantha Lascelles picked up Patriot League weekly honors, the league announced on Tuesdsay.
Omonzane was named the Patriot League Field Athlete of the Week following a nationally-ranked performance in the triple jump at the ECAC/IC4A Championships on Sunday. Omonzane reached 13.24m in the event, a new personal best and the 13th-ranked mark in the NCAA this season. She also won the long jump at the event with a 5.99m jump. This is the Brampton, Ontario native's seventh Field Athlete of the Week honor.
Lascelles earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors after running the 800m and 4x800m at the ECAC/IC4A Championships. Lascelles' 800m time of 2:09.47 is the fifth-fastest in the Patriot League and the fastest by a freshman in the league. She contributed to the historic performance in the 4x800m, where the Terriers clocked an 8:38.32 time. BU broke its own school record, the Track & Tennis Center record, the Patriot League record and the ECAC/IC4A Championships record. The mark is the fastest in the NCAA this season and sets the Terriers as the 22nd-best performers in NCAA history.
Next up, Lascelles, Omonzane and the entire track & field team will compete at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at the Track & Tennis Center on Friday (Feb. 13) and Saturday (Feb. 14).
