BOSTON - The Boston University women's ice hockey team dropped a 2-0 contest to No. 6 UConn on Saturday at Walter Brown Arena.

The Huskies opened the scoring midway through the second and added an empty-netter before Tia Chan completed the shutout in goal.

The Terriers, who got a 34-save performance from graduate student Michelle Pasiechnyk, move to 9-19-3 overall with a 7-13-2 Hockey East mark.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The teams were scoreless after one period with the Terriers needing to kill off a penalty late in the frame.
BU was shorthanded for nearly nine minutes in the second period including a brief 5-on-3 UConn advantage towards the end of a major penalty.
Pasiechnyk and the Terriers' penalty kill were outstanding during the stretch, getting the team back safely to even strength each time.
UConn opened the scoring at even-strength with 12:15 left in the middle period when Kyla Josifovic found Emma Eryou at the foot of the slot.
BU's best period was the third while in search of an equalizer but could not get a shot past the UConn defense.
UConn's Christina Walker added an empty-netter with 2:46 to play.

GAME NOTES

UConn held a 36-11 advantage in shots.
The Huskies went 0-for-4 on the power play while BU was 0-for-2.
Senior Maeve Carey and sophomore Tessa Demain each had a game-best three blocked shots.
The Huskies held a slim 21-20 edge in faceoffs.
