Roan, Omonzane Earn Gold on Day One of Patriot League Indoor Championships

BOSTON — The Boston University women's track & field team finished day one of the 2026 Patriot League Indoor Championships in the lead, picking up five medals in the process.
The Terriers picked up 59 points on day one, ahead of Navy (53) and Army West Point (42). On the men's side, BU sits in third with 29 points, trailing Navy (74) and Army West Point (47.5).

GOLDEN TERRIERS
- Senior Ellie Roan kicked off the weekend with a gold medal in the weight throw, reaching 21.14m for her third straight weight throw gold, marking the third time a Patriot League woman has won three straight weight throw gold medals.
- Senior Peace Omonzane continued her winning ways, taking home her third Patriot League indoor long jump gold medal with a 6.22m jump on her final attempt. She is the first athlete to earn three straight gold meals in the women's indoor long jump and the second Terrier to win three overall Patriot League indoor gold medals in the event, joining Lovie Burleson (2016-17, 2019).
- Roan was followed by classmate Uchenna Uba, who threw 19.68m to earn silver. That was a personal best and ranks second all-time at BU.
- Smith finished with silver, earning her first indoor long jump medal after reaching 6.17 meters and moving into second all-time at BU.
- In the men's weight throw, sophomore Luke Riordan earned his first Patriot League medal with a 19.70m mark, the best by a Terrier in the 21st century and fourth all-time.
- In the women's 4x800m, sophomores Caroline Collins and Leonni Griffin, freshman Samantha Lascelles and senior Olivia Dodds clocked an 8:43.59 time, finishing with silver.
- The men's 4x800m relay team also finished with silver, as junior Daniel De Monte, sophomores Karsen Vesty and Thomas Cowan and freshman Ryan Boldi finished in 7:29.17.
